We tried a couples Valentine's Day BYOB Candle Making Class for something new at a place called Lux Candle Lab in Metuchen, NJ, and it was a unique and fun experience! We made a reservation in advance for this class since only four couples are able to participate at a time. We arrived early and sat at a table that already had a tray ready with all the main items necessary for making the candle in a wine glass. While we waited to start, there was complimentary champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries.
To make the candle, you are provided with heated wax and once at the correct temperature, you can select two scents to mix. You are given a small glass jar to mix the scents in and you can decide the ratio of the two scents for the candle. After mixing the scents in the small jar, you add it to the heated wax and stir for a couple minutes.
It takes roughly twenty minutes to prepare the candle and then the remainder of the time you wait for the wax to dry and decorate the candle as desired with glitter, dried flowers, and small wax items (like wax hearts, candies, or bows). While you wait for the wax to cool down, there are also games at the table like Uno! or Connect Four. It was a cute way to spend the Valentine's Day Weekend and to meet other couples.
