Iron Menace- Dorney Park Review

On May 19th, 2024, I visited Dorney Park to ride their new roller coaster named Iron Menace. This is my 155th coaster, and my third dive coaster built by the roller coaster manufacturer Bolliger & Mabillard.

Iron Menace opened as the first dive coaster on the northeast, and it is also the first original roller coaster to have opened at Dorney Park in nineteen years. The other two roller coasters named Possessed and the now defunct Stinger were roller coasters that originally operated at other parks, and then moved to Dorney Park. As a result, it was a big deal for Dorney Park and roller coaster enthusiasts when this coaster was announced.

The theme of Iron Menace is the infamous steel companies in Pennsylvania during the beginning of the 20th century. As a person who studied Pennsylvania history, I really like the theme of this coaster. It is the best themed roller coaster in the park, and they rethemed the entire section around it.

After boarding the trains, the riders go up a 160 ft. tall lift hill, and then go down a 95° drop that is 155 ft. An interesting fact that many people don’t know about Iron Menace is that it is tied as the steepest dive coaster in the world. After an exhilarating drop, the riders go through four different inversions, and my favorite inversion is the inclined loop which is the third inversion. This inversion is rare to see on roller coasters.

The ride experience is short, but it is fast paced and more intense than any other dive coaster I have experienced.

The two other dive coasters I have ridden are both taller, faster, and longer; however, I personally think that Iron Menace is the best dive coaster I have ever experienced because of its theming, pacing, and unique elements.

All in all, I recommend taking a trip to Dorney Park to ride Iron Menace, and in my opinion it is the second-best coaster in the park behind Talon.
