Inconsistent American Dream Mall Wings

Updated: Aug 22, 2022

It's no secret that the American Dream Mall in East Rutherford, NJ has had a rocky history from a 25-year opening delay, and from COVID-19 shutting down the mall just a few months after it opened.

Nevertheless, the American Dream has reopened to the public, and although there are a lot of great things to see in the mall, it's obvious that it is far from finished.

During our July 21st, 2022, visit, we have noticed a new wing that had opened to the public. This new wing was easily our favorite part of the mall, and it is located near the diamond parking lot.

We ate at a new restaurant named Carpaccio, and we really enjoyed our dinner because of the delicious food and nice atmosphere. In addition, one other thing we loved about this new wing was the koi fish that were inside the fountains because we rarely see them.

As much as we loved visiting this new wing, it made us feel underwhelmed once we visited the other parts of the mall. We noticed a major dip in quality as soon as we lift that this new fancy wing.

The general atmosphere wasn't as welcoming as soon as we left that part of the mall. This was because of the messy environment, and the staff wasn't as friendly.

Seeing the other parts of the mall was a strange experience for us because during our 2021 visits, we thought that American Dream was the fanciest mall in New Jersey. However, aside from that one wing of the mall, today all of American Dream feels like a slightly better version of Short Hills or Menlo Park Mall.

In conclusion, we enjoy visiting American Dream from time to time; however, our opinion is mixed about the entire mall due to its inconsistent quality of the different parts of the mall, and because it's in a challenging location for us to drive to. Hopefully these problems will be addressed soon, and we will be more than happy to revisit in a few months.
