Christmas in NYC

Updated: Dec 30, 2022

It’s not quite a tri-state Christmas until you have at least visited NYC for the holidays. This year we opted to see the Radio City Rockettes with family, and enjoyed a chilly day trip to the city the day after Christmas.

We ate a snack and warmed up at a small café/bakery called Angelina’s. It was a little pricey (as are most places in New York), but the hot drinks and pastries warmed us up and tasted delicious. We tried their cannolis, a strawberry croissant, hot tea, and coffee. Although crowded, they were speedy and we found a spot to sit without too much hassle.

About half an hour before the show, we entered Radio City and found our seats. The show was fantastic! We were given 3D glasses to use for certain parts of the show, and it was very interactive. At one point, there were even frost fairies and snowflakes floating in the theater! Personally, the Radio City Rockettes is a show that must be seen at least once in your life. There were plenty of souvenirs available too, including shirts, Pandora charms, key chains, and more.

It was a cold day to walk out for long, but we still managed to visit the Rockefeller tree and snap a few pictures!

St. Patrick’s cathedral was also open so we went for a visit and it was beautiful seeing the cathedral adorned with holiday spirit and colors. There was a sea of poinsettias by the altar and the nativity scene was redecorated with a hint of winter.

After the cathedral, we went to a restaurant called Fig and Olive. The place had great theming and a cute atmosphere. Unfortunately, we arrived at a busy time so service was a little slow, but the food was delicious!

Our day ended with tasty treats at Avra, a restaurant and bar near Radio City. We ate dessert (from chocolate cake to yogurt and fruit) and had warm drinks (from irish coffees, cappuccinos, and tea). It was beautiful place with a great atmosphere. Perfect for extending the day and chatting about what your favorite part of the adventure was.

Looking forward to our next trip to NYC!
