BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir (Hindu Temple)

Robbinsville, NJ

3 March 2024

After hearing a lot about the Hindu Temple built in Robbinsville, I opted to go see what it was like. It was an incredible structure and active praying location as well. It is still not 100% complete, but there is still a lot to see. After speaking with some of the volunteers, they said that it was an estimated 20 year project for its construction, but still ongoing.

You cannot take photos inside the temples (out of respect), but you are able to take plenty of photos outside of the temples. The sheer enormity of it is amazing. The marble is hand carved, and it was worked on by many volunteers. There is significance to all of the details, including the body of water found near the entrance. In order to protect the marble, people are not allowed to touch it, expect for certain designated areas marked.

I was lucky to have gone early in the morning because there was hardly a wait, but later in the day there was a line at least a couple hundred of people long. Also, some of the buildings close for part of the day, so keep an eye on your watch to be sure you have time to view everything.

If you get hungry, there is also a small to-go cafe and sit-down small buffet area that you can pick up food from.

It is a great place to visit to learn more about culture and take in the beautiful sights of the temples!
