Cranford, NJ
If you are looking for a pleasant atmosphere that makes you feel like you are in Greece, this is one of the places to go to.
We had always passed by this restaurant, but never had tried it. Since we were craving Greek food, we decided to give it a go. When we entered, the staff was pleasant and there was traditional Greek music playing in the background. The decorations on the wall helped the atmosphere too. During our stay, we forgot that we were in Cranford, NJ.
The first thing we tried was the kalamata olive bread brought out to us. Then we had two traditional appetizers, octapodi (braised octopus) and dolmades (rice and meat rolled in a vine leaf), a salad, chicken "lemonati" (grilled chicken with special lemon butter sauce), and a dessert called galaktoboureko.
The owner would personally go around the restaurant and ask patrons how they felt about the food. He was very friendly and we even found out that he plays traditional Greek music for weddings!
This restaurant was a pleasant surprise of good food and great culture.
